Orange County is one of the most populous countries in Southern California. It is famous for its Anaheim’s Disneyland Resort, adventurous theme parks, and numerous beaches along its coastline of about 40 miles. During the 1860’s Los Angeles County was attacked by drought and the cattle ranching industry was devastated. Later in 1887 few people discovered silver mines in this area, which attracted many settlers towards Los Angeles. This unexpected growth forced California legislature to subdivide Los Angeles County and establish Orange County as a separate political province. This is how on March 11th, 1889 Orange County was created.
Don Gaspar de Portola was the first person to lead the tour through Orange County in 1769. Later in 1776 Mission San Juan Capistrano was formed and as a result grazing cattle, sheep and horses started and last up to 1830s. In 1810 people received a formal concession saying that the land they were living was named as Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana.
In 1834, the Mexican government granted lands to Mexican citizens. At the end of 1846, the Orange County was a part of one or the other rancho. Due to which cattle ranching became the backbone of this economy. In 1848 California was handed over to the United States by Mexico. When California became a state, Orange County became a part of Los Angeles County in 1850.
The Gold Rush brought a huge number of new settlers to Orange County.
In 1850 Anaheim was founded in Orange County, which became the first American town. Later in 1857, a new community was built who lived on making wine. This divided the area into Irrigation land and vineyards. In 1868, farming became the backbone of this economy. In 1870, the Newport bay became a regular shipping point. The first rail track was laid in Anaheim in 1875.The drastic increase in a number of citizens led to the formation of the country “Orange County”.
Tourism, service industry and manufacturing became the dominant source of living for people in 1955. The inauguration of the Disney land has made Orange County as an international tourist destination.
